A Guide to Self-Exclusion in Pennsylvania

Outline & Overview

Navigating the landscape of recovery in the Keystone State requires a deep understanding of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board’s (PGCB) multi-tiered self-exclusion programs, which serve as a foundational clinical intervention tool for individuals reclaiming control from gambling disorders.

This presentation provides an essential overview of these programs, covering voluntary bans for land-based casinos, iGaming, video gaming terminals (VGTs), and fantasy sports.

We will explore the mechanics of how these self-imposed bans work and examine the data behind their effectiveness, with over 25,000 individuals currently enrolled.

Most importantly, clinicians will walk away with a practical roadmap for the online enrollment process at ResponsiblePlay.pa.gov, empowering them to expertly guide clients through this proactive step toward long-term recovery.

Objectives

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will:

  • Become familiar with the forms of Self-Exclusion in Pennsylvania
  • Evaluate program effectiveness through exploration of enrollment data
  • Gain proficiency in guiding clients through the online enrollment system
