Lackawanna County Webinar – College Students & Gambling

Gambling is an activity that many college students participate in for a number of different reasons – to win money, for excitement, to connect socially. Regardless of the reason, gambling is an activity with risks, and students can be affected by gambling related issues in several ways.

Recent studies indicate that teens and college aged individuals experience gambling problems at a higher rate that adults. As we see new types of gambling becoming available, that is often attractive to this demographic, it is more important than ever to have programs in place and to raise awareness of issues that individual may potentially face, as well as how to access available help.

Learning Objectives 

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will:

  • Become familiar with gambling and factors included in the development of problematic gambling, specifically among college students
  • Identify prevalence rates and risk factors of disordered gambling
  • Discuss warning signs and how to address the issue with young adults
  • Have awareness of available local resources

 

Continuing Education

This live program has been approved by the International Gambling Counselor Certification Board – attendees who complete the live webinar will be eligible to receive 1.0 hours of credit
