Ethical Considerations for Gambling Counselors

This training will address ethical considerations in addiction treatment, focusing specifically on gambling addiction. Discussion will include the functions of ethical codes, values/morals and laws impacting the gambling addiction professional, the agency and the client. Case studies and ethical decision-making models will be discussed throughout the course, as will the International Gambling Counselor Certification Board’s (IGCCB) code of ethics, in order to help guide the practitioner.

Learning Objectives 

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • List key elements of ethical practice and apply them to problem gambling examples
  • Discuss the increased consideration of ethical issues that may arise when working with individuals experiencing gambling related issues
  • Discuss the code of ethics of the International Gambling Counselor Certification Board (IGCCB)
  • Share information about resources and factors aimed at prevention and intervention
